James Celebrates 1 Year with Nicholas Associates!

This week, we celebrated the first work anniversary of James Kerfoot, Senior Recruitment Consultant for our Mersey Hub. We sat down with James to discuss his journey with us so far and explore his ambitions moving forward.

What’s been your proudest achievement in your first year?

Rather than a single placement, I think my proudest achievement has been building a fruitful and productive 360 desk from essentially a standing start – connecting the Nicholas Associates Group with many more fantastic clients who find our services invaluable to their recruitment needs.

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Nicholas Associates?

The “championing success” culture has been refreshing to see, from celebrating every placement and recognising monthly high performers to the fantastic individual and team awards presented at our recent annual conference.

If you could go back to your first day, what advice would you give yourself?

Trust the sales process and back yourself to deliver. At times, it takes multiple touchpoints to gain a potential client’s trust. Working with engineering and manufacturing firms in a market saturated with agencies, it’s about standing out from the crowd with your expertise and personability.

How would you describe the past year in a movie or song title?

Not to be cringe-worthy, but it would probably be Eye of the Tiger. I’ve had to show real grit and determination to build this desk, dealing with the highs and lows of recruitment along the way. I’ve kept my eye on the prize and have always been hungry for that next placement.

What are you looking forward to in the year ahead? 

Without a doubt, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow my desk and Nicholas Associates Group’s success in Merseyside, collaborating with my direct colleagues and the wider group, and being successful in my billing – hopefully earning a place on stage with an award or two at next year’s annual conference.
